The Head Start Program is an educational development tool for low income children three to five years of age. A wide range of transportation, medical, dental, psychological, and social supportive services are provided. Also, parents have an opportunity to participate through a strong program of parent involvement activities.
The Head Start Program, being governed by Federal Regulation and licensed locally, must comply with an extensive and complex set of regulations. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families (HHS/ACF) has provided a Head Start Dictionary to explain some of the terms pertaining to the Head Start Program.
